RANGAMATI, Sept 07 (V7N) — Rangamati district police have recovered 61 lost mobile phones from different parts of Bangladesh using technology-based investigations and returned them to their rightful owners.
The phones were recovered through continuous efforts by the Cyber Crime Monitoring Cell of the Rangamati Hill District Police.
The recovered mobile phones were handed over to their owners at a ceremony held at the conference room of the Rangamati Superintendent of Police’s office on Sunday.
Superintendent of Police of Rangamati Hill District, Muhammed Abdur Rakib, PPM, presided over the programme.
According to district police, the Cyber Crime Monitoring Cell launched investigations based on information and complaints regarding mobile phones lost in different areas of Rangamati.
With the assistance of information technology, the cell conducted technical analysis and investigations, eventually recovering 61 mobile phones from various locations across the country in phases.
Police said returning the recovered phones to their rightful owners demonstrated not only their growing technological capabilities but also their commitment to recovering lost property and providing public services.
The victims expressed satisfaction after receiving their lost phones and thanked the Superintendent of Police and other members of the Rangamati district police.
Officials described the initiative as a positive example of citizen-friendly, technology-driven policing.
They said the use of information technology to trace and recover lost mobile phones from different parts of the country also demonstrated the police’s growing capacity for cybercrime investigations and technological detection.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md Iqbal Hossain, PPM; Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md Tarek Sekandar; Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Jasim Uddin; Cyber Crime Monitoring Cell in-charge H.M. Mahmud; and other members of the Cyber Crime Monitoring Cell attended the programme.
Rangamati district police said their technology-driven policing initiatives would continue, with public service given the highest priority, to ensure the safety and services of citizens.
