Dhaka, Jun 01 (V7N) – The hearing on framing charges against accused Sohel Rana and his wife Swapna Akhter in the murder case of eight-year-old Ramisa Akhter is set to take place today. If the court frames charges, the formal trial proceedings in the case will officially begin.

The hearing is scheduled to be held on Monday at the court of Judge Masrur Salekin of the Dhaka Metropolitan Child Violence Prevention Tribunal.

Special Public Prosecutor Azizur Rahman Dulu is expected to present arguments in favor of framing charges against the accused. A state-appointed defense lawyer will represent Sohel Rana and Swapna Akhter during the hearing.

The case has drawn significant public attention following the tragic death of the child in the capital's Pallabi area.

Earlier, on May 24, the court took cognizance of the charge sheet submitted against Sohel Rana and Swapna Akhter in connection with the murder of Ramisa Akhter, paving the way for the next stage of legal proceedings.

If the tribunal finds sufficient grounds in the charge sheet and supporting evidence, charges will be formally framed against the accused, allowing the case to proceed to trial.
