Dhaka, April 27 (V7N) — A Dhaka court today sent Dhaka University Associate Professor Sudip Chakraborty to jail in connection with a case filed over allegations of instigating his student, Munira Mahjabin Mimo, to commit suicide.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ripon Hossain passed the order after police produced Sudip before the court and sought his detention until completion of the investigation.

Police arrested Sudip Chakraborty from the city’s North Badda area on April 26, hours after Mimo was found dead in her rented flat in Badda. Her body was later sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy.

Investigators recovered a handwritten note from the scene, while WhatsApp messages reportedly indicated that she had an intimate relationship with the teacher.

Mimo’s father filed the case, accusing Sudip of instigating her to take her own life.
