Chattogram, Jan 11 (V7N) — Jamal Uddin, 32, a supporter of Chhatra Shibir, was shot dead while another man, identified as Nasir, was injured in a targeted attack in the Lelang Union of Fatikchhari Upazila around 7:30 pm on Saturday. The shooting took place near Dighirpar in the Shahnagar area.
Local sources reported that a group of armed outsiders suddenly appeared and opened fire at Jamal Uddin. He was shot at close range and died on the spot. Nasir sustained gunshot injuries and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Following the attack, the assailants fled the scene.
Sarwar Hossain, Panel Chairman of Lelang Union, confirmed the shooting and said it caused panic and unrest among the local residents. Authorities quickly arrived to control the situation.
Fatikchhari Police Station OC (Investigation) Rafiqul Islam stated that a detailed investigation has begun. He confirmed that one person was killed and another injured in the attack, but no arrests have been made so far.
The incident has raised security concerns in the area. Police are conducting investigations, questioning witnesses, and reviewing possible motives behind the attack. Residents have been advised to stay cautious, and additional patrols have been deployed in the area to prevent further incidents.
