Pabna, Dec 05 (V7N) – Police have arrested two former leaders of the Chatmohar Upazila unit of the Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal on Wednesday night during separate operations in the municipal area. Both women had been fugitives in a court-issued warrant related to an assault and attempted murder case.
The arrested are Buri Sarkar, 42, former senior vice-president of the dissolved Mohila Dal Chatmohar unit and daughter of the late Dr. Kobad Hossain of Madhya Shalikha; and Rahima Reza, 45, wife of VP Selim Reza of Baluchar and expelled former organizational secretary of the same dissolved committee.
Chatmohar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manjurul Alam said the arrests were made in connection with CR Case No. 513/25 (Chat), issued by Pabna Amli Court–04. Both women had been evading arrest, prompting the court to issue warrants against them. They were apprehended from different parts of Chatmohar Municipality and will be sent to Pabna Jail through the court on Thursday.
According to the case statement, the complainant, Advocate Tamanna Aziza Swarna, the former general secretary of the dissolved Chatmohar Upazila Mohila Dal, was attacked on August 23, 2025, around 5 p.m. near the Bus Stand area (Aftratpara) while she was present to join a BNP program. The complaint alleges that Rahima Reza and Buri Sarkar assaulted her with local weapons due to a prior political dispute, leaving her injured. Swarna later filed a case accusing both women and several others of attempted murder and snatching.
Records show that on September 1, Rahima Reza was expelled from her organizational post over allegations of drug dealing and drug use—a decision that sparked considerable discussion in local political circles at the time.
The two arrested women are expected to be produced before the court for further proceedings.
