Rajshahi, Nov 30 (V7N) – In the third phase of Operation First Light, Rajshahi police have arrested a total of 72 individuals, including identified terrorists, drug traffickers, wanted criminals, and suspected accomplices of armed groups. During the operation, both domestic and foreign weapons and various drugs were recovered. The details were shared at a press briefing held today at the Rajshahi Range DIG office by DIG Mohammad Shahjahan.

The DIG stated that the operation, conducted across Natore’s Naldanga and Singra areas and Pabna’s Ishwardi region, was carried out throughout Friday during both day and night. The primary goal of the operation was to ensure a safe and conducive environment ahead of the upcoming national parliamentary elections.

The operation involved members of the police force, the Detective Branch (DB), and the Special Branch (SB) from three districts under the initiative of Rajshahi Range Police. DIG Shahjahan emphasized that the campaign was aimed not only at securing the election environment but also at ensuring public safety and dismantling longstanding criminal activities, including terrorism, drug trafficking, arms trading, and extortion.

During the press briefing, it was noted that while three phases of the operation have been completed, the overall campaign is ongoing. Continuous law enforcement operations will be conducted across all districts, with special attention to riverine and remote areas. Operation First Light has established a foundational security framework to maintain peace and safety in the region.

Authorities affirmed that the efforts will continue until the areas are cleared of criminal networks, creating a secure environment for citizens and facilitating a fair and peaceful election process.
