Madhabpur, Feb 2 (V7N) — A mobile court conducted a drive against illegal sand extraction and trading in Madhabpur upazila and fined a sand trader Tk 150,000. The operation was carried out around 12:00 pm on Sunday (February 1, 2026) in the Shahapur Bazar area of Baghasura Union.

During the drive, a case was filed under the Balumahal and Soil Management Act, 2010. The convicted trader, Emran Bappi, son of Abu Yusuf and a resident of Satparia, was fined Tk 150,000, which was realized immediately.

The mobile court was assisted by the Union Land Assistant Officer, along with police teams from Kalikapur and Chhatiyain police outposts, who were present to ensure law enforcement support during the operation.

Speaking on the matter, Madhabpur Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Mujibul Islam said that such drives against illegal sand extraction and sale will continue on a regular basis in the interest of the public.
