Chittagong, Aug 24 (V7N)- A low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas has moved northwestward and is currently positioned over Gangetic West Bengal, adjoining northern Odisha and the northwest Bay of Bengal.
In response to the developing weather conditions, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has asked the seaports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra to display local warning signal number 3.
According to a weather warning issued on Monday, squally winds may affect the seaports, the north Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh due to the low-pressure system.
The department has also advised fishing boats and trawlers operating in the north Bay of Bengal to proceed with caution and remain close to the coast until further notice.
Authorities are urging vessels and coastal communities to remain alert as the weather may deteriorate further under the influence of the low-pressure system.
