Dhaka, Aug 23 (V7N)- A low pressure area has formed over the north-western Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas, prompting the Bangladesh Meteorological Department to issue a warning for the country’s maritime ports.

According to a warning issued by the Meteorological Department on Sunday, gusty winds may affect the maritime ports, the north Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh due to the influence of the low pressure system.

In view of the developing weather conditions, the maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to display local warning signal number 3.

The Meteorological Department has also advised all fishing boats and trawlers operating in the north Bay of Bengal to proceed towards the coast with caution and remain vigilant until further notice.

Authorities have urged vessels and fishermen in the affected areas to follow weather warnings and take necessary precautions as the situation develops.
