Dhaka, Aug. 2 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast gusty winds and thunderstorms in three regions of the country by noon, advising inland river ports to hoist warning signal No. 1.
The forecast was issued in a weather warning for the country's inland river ports, valid until 1:00 p.m. on Sunday (Aug. 2).
According to the BMD, temporary rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty or squally winds at speeds of 45 to 60 kilometres per hour may occur over the Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet regions. Winds are expected to blow from the south or southeast.
In view of the forecast, inland river ports in the affected areas have been advised to display cautionary signal No. 1 from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The Meteorological Department urged river transport operators and residents in the affected regions to remain cautious and follow official weather advisories.
