Dhaka, Jun 23 (V7N)- The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning predicting gusty winds, rain, and possible lightning across 15 districts of the country, including the capital Dhaka.
According to the inland river ports weather bulletin issued from 9 pm Monday (June 22) to 9 am Tuesday (June 23), there is a risk of strong winds accompanied by rainfall and lightning during this period.
In a warning message signed by meteorologist Md. Omar Faruk, it was stated that districts including Rangpur, Dinajpur, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Comilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet may experience gusty winds.
The forecast indicates that winds may blow from the south or southeast at speeds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour. Alongside this, scattered rainfall and thunderstorms are likely, increasing the risk of lightning strikes in affected areas.
In response to the weather conditions, the Meteorological Office has advised inland river ports across the 15 districts to hoist cautionary signal number one.
Additionally, the broader national forecast for Tuesday suggests that rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning may occur in many areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, with scattered rainfall also expected in parts of Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions.
Meteorologists have also noted that there may be a slight rise in both daytime and nighttime temperatures across the country despite the unstable weather conditions.
Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious, particularly during thunderstorms and periods of strong winds.
