Rajshahi, May 17 (V7N) - The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has indicated that the heat wave currently affecting 12 districts across the country may subside in some areas. Furthermore, the forecast for the next 24 hours, starting from 9 am on Saturday, predicts the likelihood of thundershowers across the country, including Rajshahi. The agency also warned of the risk of heavy rainfall in certain locations. This information is part of the 120-hour weather forecast issued today.

The forecast states that the extension of a western low-pressure area is stretching from West Bengal to the north Bay of Bengal, passing through the southwestern part of Bangladesh. Under these conditions, a mild heat wave is currently affecting the districts of Dhaka, Tangail, Gopalganj, Rajbari, Sirajganj, Chandpur, Bandarban, Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Jessore, and Jhenaidah, and it may abate in some of these places.

The day temperature may decrease slightly across the country, while the night temperature is expected to remain relatively unchanged.

The forecast for Monday indicates the possibility of temporary gusty winds with lightning or rain or thundershowers in some areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, and in isolated places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions. Moderate to heavy rainfall is also likely in isolated parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions. Moderate to heavy rainfall is again expected in parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions. A slight increase in both day and night temperatures is possible across the country on this day.

For Wednesday, the forecast suggests temporary gusty winds with lightning or rain or thundershowers in some areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, and in isolated places in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions. Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely in some parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions. Day and night conditions are expected to remain largely unchanged across the country on this day.
