Dhaka, Oct 06 (V7N)- With the final three months of 2026 approaching, government employees are looking ahead to the remaining public holidays of the year. Among the holidays in October, November and December, Durga Puja will bring the longest consecutive break.

According to the government's 2026 holiday calendar, three consecutive public holidays will be observed from Tuesday, October 20 to Thursday, October 22 on the occasion of Durga Puja. The official holiday list was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on November 9, 2025.

Tuesday, October 20, will be a holiday by executive order on the occasion of Navami. Wednesday, October 21, will be a general holiday for Vijaya Dashami, while Thursday, October 22, will also be a holiday by executive order.

The three-day break will be followed by the regular weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24. As a result, government employees will have five consecutive days off from October 20 to 24.

In November, the government will observe a holiday on Saturday, November 7, marking National Revolution and Solidarity Day. The Cabinet Division issued a circular in April regarding observance of the day.

The final month of the year will also include two general holidays. Wednesday, December 16, will be observed as Victory Day, while Friday, December 25, will be a general holiday for Christmas Day.

The 2026 holiday calendar originally announced 14 general holidays and 14 holidays by executive order, making 28 government holidays in total. The Ministry of Public Administration issued the official notification on November 9, 2025.

With several holidays remaining in the final quarter, government employees will have opportunities for extended breaks, particularly around the Durga Puja holiday in October.
