Dhaka, Sep 29 (V7N)- Prime Minister’s Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman has said anyone found to be involved in the demolition and vandalism of the Radda MCH-FP Centre in Mirpur will be brought under the law following an investigation.
He made the remarks at a press briefing at the Secretariat on Tuesday on the government’s progress and current issues.
Responding to questions about allegations linking BNP members to the incident, Zahed said the government was embarrassed whenever citizens’ rights were violated or property was vandalised. He said anyone whose involvement is established through investigation would face legal action.
The adviser said the government would not stop at the arrests already made and that the investigation would determine whether others were involved in the incident.
On nuclear energy cooperation, Zahed said Bangladesh would continue to pursue the peaceful use of nuclear energy under its cooperation agreement with the United States. He said the agreement would not affect the operation of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant and that Bangladesh could cooperate with multiple countries to meet its future energy needs.
Regarding international negotiations, he said Bangladesh would engage with India, Russia and the United States based on its national interests and would not accept conditions or pressure that conflicted with those interests.
On aircraft purchases, Zahed said any decision to procure Boeing or Airbus aircraft would be based on Bangladesh’s requirements rather than external pressure.
He also said there was no shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the country, citing importers and operators as saying that sufficient stocks were available.
Zahed’s remarks came amid continued scrutiny of the Radda centre incident, with authorities investigating allegations of vandalism, looting and unlawful demolition at the healthcare facility in Mirpur.
