Dhaka, Sep 26 (V7N)- Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan has called for the immediate arrest of those involved in the vandalism and looting of the Radda Center, a low-cost healthcare facility in Mirpur-1.
"The government does not condone, and neither do we, acts of encroachment carried out under the cover of darkness. The perpetrators must be arrested immediately," he said.
The DNCC administrator made the remarks while speaking to journalists after inaugurating the Nationwide Special Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign-2026 at the TNT playground in Mohakhali-Korail on Saturday.
Police have not yet made any arrests in connection with the incident. Meanwhile, measles-rubella vaccination activities continued in front of the main gate of the demolished facility, with additional law enforcement personnel deployed at the site.
Shafiqul Islam Khan said the parties involved, including the association and Radda, had been instructed to resolve any dispute over the land through the courts.
"I hope that whoever these miscreants are, they will be arrested very quickly and legal action will be taken against them," he said.
Radda Center authorities filed a case with Shah Ali Police Station on Friday over the attack and vandalism. The case names Hanif Mia as an accused and around 250 unidentified individuals as alleged accomplices.
According to the clinic authorities, around 200 masked individuals held security guards hostage before entering the facility and allegedly looting medical equipment, medicines, government-supplied vaccines, cash and other valuables.
The authorities further alleged that heavy machinery was later used to demolish one concrete building and three semi-permanent structures. They estimated the total damage at around Tk 1.5 crore.
