New York, Sep 24 (V7N)- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a bilateral meeting with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on Wednesday on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly at the UN headquarters in New York.
The meeting focused on ways to further strengthen the friendly bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Croatia, expand trade and investment, and increase cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The two prime ministers discussed expanding economic cooperation and identified trade and investment, skilled manpower, education and technology as areas with potential for greater collaboration.
They also emphasised the importance of further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in other promising sectors, with the aim of expanding existing bilateral engagement.
The leaders discussed enhancing coordination on international issues of common interest and strengthening cooperation through multilateral platforms.
Particular emphasis was placed on cooperation at the United Nations and other multilateral forums, where Bangladesh and Croatia can coordinate on issues of shared interest.
The meeting was held as part of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s engagements during his visit to New York for the 81st UN General Assembly. He is scheduled to deliver Bangladesh’s national address at the UN General Assembly on Thursday (September 24).
The bilateral meeting is among a series of diplomatic engagements being held by the prime minister on the sidelines of the UNGA session.
