Dhaka, Sep 22 (V7N)- Major General Md. Alimul Amin has been appointed the new Director General of the Department of Immigration and Passports (DIP), replacing Major General Md. Nurul Anwar.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Monday regarding the appointment. The order takes effect immediately.
According to the notification, Major General Alimul Amin, a senior Bangladesh Army officer, has been appointed to the post on deputation. His services have been placed at the disposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for the new assignment.
Meanwhile, Major General Nurul Anwar has been withdrawn from his position as Director General of the Department of Immigration and Passports and returned to the Bangladesh Army.
His services have been placed at the disposal of the Armed Forces Division, according to the notification.
The order was issued by the Deputation-1 Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration and was signed by Deputy Secretary Mohammad Nur-e-Alam on behalf of the President.
The ministry said the decision was made in the public interest and would take effect immediately.
Major General Alimul Amin will now oversee the Department of Immigration and Passports, which is responsible for issuing passports and providing immigration-related services to citizens and foreign nationals.
The change in leadership comes as the department continues to manage passport services and other immigration-related responsibilities across the country.
