Dhaka, Sep 07 (V7N)- State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam has said that around 12,000 Bangladeshi citizens and their family members will have the opportunity to travel to Italy legally every year.

He made the remarks after a meeting with Italian Ambassador Antonio Alessandro at the Secretariat on Monday (September 7).

The state minister said the Italian ambassador expressed concern over the increasing number of Bangladeshi citizens attempting to enter Italy illegally. He stressed the importance of discouraging illegal migration and raising public awareness about the risks involved.

Mir Shahe Alam also said Bangladesh has sought Italy's cooperation in providing third-language education and vocational training for people interested in legally migrating to the country.

He emphasized the need for proper preparation, skills development and legal migration channels to ensure that Bangladeshi citizens can pursue opportunities in Italy safely and lawfully.
