Gazipur, Sep 06 (V7N)- Gazipur Palli Bidyut Samity-1 has found discrepancies between recent claims of excessive electricity bills made by Sifat Abdullah and the findings of an investigation conducted into the matter.
According to an investigation report signed by officials of Gazipur Palli Bidyut Samity-1, Sifat Abdullah's residence has three separate residential electricity meter connections.
The report says the combined electricity bill for the three meters over the past four months was Tk 16,273.
The investigation team also visited Sifat's residence to collect information about the electrical appliances being used there. However, according to the report, the occupants did not provide the requested information and closed the gate.
Earlier, Sifat Abdullah posted a video on his Facebook account in which he allegedly used offensive language while criticizing Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. In the video, he claimed that he had paid around Tk 10,000 in electricity bills over two months, describing the amount as excessive.
The video drew widespread criticism. Sifat was subsequently arrested and sent to jail under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
