Jiangxi, China, Aug 29 (V7N) – Prime Minister's Adviser on Education Dr. Mahdi Amin yesterday said the Bangladesh-China joint partnership in education, technical training and skills development will take diplomatic relations between the two countries to a new height, as the two nations signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a vocational training center .

"The MoU signing marks the beginning of a new chapter in Bangladesh-China technical education cooperation. Our main objective is not to limit this cooperation to the signing of a memorandum, but to make it effective in practice and create employment opportunities for young people," he said .

Mahdi Amin made the remarks while speaking at the 'China-Bangladesh Education Exchange Conference' held at Jiangxi Science and Technology Normal University in China . A high-level delegation, led by Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon and Mahdi Amin, is currently in China on a three-day official visit at the invitation of the Chinese government .

"The government is working to transform education into skills, skills into employment, and employment into economic opportunities," Mahdi Amin said . "The MoU is not merely a memorandum written on paper; it is a commitment to turn cooperation into real opportunities for the people of our two countries" .

Secretary of the Technical and Madrasa Education Division Md Daud Mia signed the MoU on behalf of Bangladesh, while Vice President of Jiangxi Science and Technology Normal University Professor Zheng Pengwu signed it on behalf of China .

Three Major Cooperation Platforms Inaugurated

During the conference, three international education and research centers were formally inaugurated, marking a significant step in bilateral cooperation :

  1. China-Bangladesh Vocational Teacher Training Center – inaugurated by Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon

  2. Bangladesh Vocational Education Research Center – inaugurated by Mahdi Amin

  3. Bangladesh Chinese Language + Skill Development Cooperation Center – inaugurated by Secretary Md Daud Mia

Scope of Cooperation

Under the MoU, both sides have expressed interest in cooperating on vocational training programs, bilingual educational materials, research centers for vocational education, education-industry integration, industrial training in Bangladesh, study visits to China, and training for vocational education administrators . The agreement also considers cooperation with Chinese-invested companies in Bangladesh to strengthen opportunities for practical training .

Earlier, the delegation visited Guangdong Vocational City in Qingyuan, where the "Chinese + Vocational Skills" Industry-Education Integration Alliance was formally launched . Mahdi Amin emphasized the need to make technical and vocational education compulsory and introduce third-language education, including Mandarin, to equip young people with skills needed in the international job market .
