Dhaka, Aug 26 (V7N)- Muslims around the world are observing Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH) today, corresponding to 12 Rabi' al-Awwal in the Islamic calendar. The day is observed in remembrance of the birth and passing of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was the final prophet and messenger of Islam. Muslims believe he was sent by Almighty Allah with the message of Tawheed and preached Islam while spreading teachings of peace, compassion and justice.
According to Islamic tradition, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born in 570 AD in the Quraysh clan of the holy city of Makkah. He passed away in 632 AD, with both events traditionally associated with 12 Rabi' al-Awwal.
His father was Abdullah and his mother was Amina. His father died before his birth, while his mother passed away when he was six years old.
He was born at a time when Arabian society was experiencing what is traditionally described as the Age of Jahiliyyah, marked by widespread social injustice, tribal conflict and various forms of lawlessness.
Islamic scholars say Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was sent as a mercy to the worlds, bringing guidance and calling people toward faith, morality, justice and peaceful coexistence.
On Eid-e-Miladunnabi, Muslims traditionally remember his life, character and teachings through religious gatherings, prayers, discussions and recitation.
Scholars emphasize that remembering the Prophet (PBUH) should not be limited to a single day. Rather, his teachings, ideals and moral example should be followed throughout everyday life.
