Dhaka, Aug 23 (V7N)- Newly sworn-in President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir entered Bangabhaban for the first time in his capacity as the 23rd President of Bangladesh on Sunday.
He arrived at the President's official residence at around 11am, where he was accorded a ceremonial welcome and a guard of honour.
As the President's motorcade reached the Bangabhaban area, a well-equipped cavalry team escorted and welcomed him before taking him inside the presidential complex.
Upon his arrival, a smart contingent of the President's Guard Regiment (PGR) presented the President with a guard of honour. Later, officials of Bangabhaban welcomed him with flowers.
Earlier, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir took oath as the 23rd President of Bangladesh at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban last Friday evening. He took the oath before Acting Speaker of the National Assembly Kaiser Kamal.
The following day, Saturday, President Mirza Fakhrul paid tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War at the National Memorial.
With his oath-taking and subsequent engagements, his formal responsibilities as President began. Sunday's arrival at Bangabhaban marked the start of his regular official activities from the presidential residence.
