Savar, Aug 22 (V7N)- Newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir paid tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War by placing a wreath at the National Memorial in Savar on Saturday morning.
After laying the wreath at the altar of the martyrs, the newly elected President stood in silence for a while to show respect to those who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War.
A smartly turned-out contingent of the Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force also presented the President with a guard of honor at the memorial.
Following the tribute, President Mirza Fakhrul signed the visitors' book kept on the premises of the National Memorial.
