Dhaka, Aug 10 (V7N)- Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has said that he would be satisfied if students receive marks that fairly reflect the amount of preparation and study they have undertaken. He said he does not support awarding extra marks to students who have not studied adequately.
The Education Minister said that between 2001 and 2006, when examinations were conducted fairly and without cheating, the number of students receiving zero marks was three to four times higher than it is now. However, the figure has gradually declined due to various measures taken to improve the examination system.
He also said the number of educational institutions recording a 100 percent failure rate was around five times higher at that time. The situation was gradually improved through various initiatives.
“Wait a little longer this time too,” the Education Minister said, expressing optimism that further improvements would be achieved.
He said the government’s responsibility is to identify areas where the education system is deteriorating and take the necessary steps to improve them.
Meanwhile, the results of the 2026 SSC and equivalent examinations were published simultaneously across the country at 10 am on Monday.
The overall pass rate across all education boards stood at 62.25 percent, while 116,676 students achieved GPA-5.
