Dhaka, Aug 10 (V7N)- Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam have expressed deep shock and heartfelt condolences over the deaths of 16 Bangladeshi citizens in a fire at a sofa factory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
In separate statements, they expressed profound sympathy to the bereaved families and assured them of the government’s support during their time of grief.
Officials from the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh rushed to the scene after receiving news of the fire. The embassy is working closely with the relevant Saudi authorities to identify the deceased and complete the necessary formalities for repatriating the bodies.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it is continuously monitoring the situation and providing necessary assistance to the affected families.
At least 16 Bangladeshi expatriate workers were killed in the devastating fire at the sofa factory in Riyadh on Sunday night. Several others were reportedly injured in the incident.
