Dhaka, Aug 10 (V7N)- Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for the first time today, Monday.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Prime Minister’s Office at the Secretariat at 11am.

Earlier on Sunday, Dinesh Trivedi met Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman at the Padma State Guest House. Following the meeting, the foreign minister informed the media about the upcoming meeting between the Indian High Commissioner and the prime minister.

The meeting is expected to focus on Bangladesh-India bilateral relations and various issues of mutual interest. The foreign minister is scheduled to brief journalists after the meeting.

Political analysts consider the meeting significant given several long-standing and sensitive issues between the two neighboring countries. These include former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s political activities in India, border killings, equitable sharing of river waters and alleged push-ins along the border.

The meeting is also expected to provide indications about the future course of Bangladesh-India relations. Discussions may also touch upon the possibility of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visiting New Delhi in September.
