Dhaka, Aug 09 (V7N) – Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman has visited the areas of United Nations peacekeeping missions in South Sudan and Abyei as part of a five-day official visit.
He left Bangladesh for South Sudan and Abyei on Saturday (August 8), according to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the visit, the Army Chief is scheduled to inspect the Bangladeshi contingents deployed under UN peacekeeping missions in South Sudan and Abyei.
He will also pay courtesy calls on relevant state and mission authorities in both locations and exchange views with them on matters related to the peacekeeping missions.
The visit is aimed at strengthening coordination with the Bangladeshi peacekeeping contingents and providing an opportunity to review their activities and operational engagements under the United Nations missions.
