Dhaka, Jul 02 (V7N) — Roads, Transport and Railways Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam has said that the removal of soil beneath the pillars of the Padma Railway Bridge has no adverse impact on the bridge or railway infrastructure, describing the work as a planned part of the project.
The minister made the remarks on Thursday while inspecting ongoing demobilization activities beneath the Padma Railway Bridge viaduct in the Aliganj area of Narayanganj Sadar.
He explained that the soil being removed had been temporarily filled during the bridge's construction to facilitate the movement of heavy machinery. According to the project's design and contractual requirements, the temporary fill is now being removed as construction activities are completed.
The minister assured that the removal of the soil would not pose any risk to the railway line or the bridge structure.
Instead, he said, the work is being carried out to enhance project safety, restore the surrounding environment to its original condition, and support future development planning in the area.
