Dhaka, Jul 01 (V7N) — Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan has said that cyber security has become more important than guarding thousands of miles of physical borders in the modern era, stressing the growing significance of information management in national security.
He made the remarks while inaugurating 'Prantik Kanthaswar', the official media platform of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force, at the Ansar headquarters in Khilgaon, Dhaka, on Wednesday morning.
The minister said that national security is no longer limited to protecting geographical borders, but also depends on effective information management and cyber resilience.
"War, security and defense are no longer confined to border protection alone. Information management has become an integral part of modern governance," he said.
Swapan also highlighted the government's master plan for information management, saying it aims to ensure that citizens receive timely and accurate information while combating misinformation.
Speaking at the event, State Minister for Road Transport and Railways Habibur Rashid Habib emphasized the importance of protecting people from rumors and information disorder.
He expressed hope that Ansar VDP's online media platform, Prantik Kanthaswar, would play a significant role in countering misinformation and promoting the dissemination of credible information across the country.
