Dhaka, Jul 01 (V7N) — The government has approved a policy decision to establish four police stations, six investigation centers and 41 police boxes under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police as part of efforts to strengthen law and order in the capital's Purbachal New City Project.

Inspector General of Police Md. Ali Hossain Fakir announced the plan while inaugurating the Barkau Police Camp in the Purbachal New City Project area on Wednesday morning.

The IGP said the DMP is also working to establish two police lines, three deputy commissioner (DC) offices, in addition to the four police stations, six investigation centers and 41 police boxes to support the area's growing population and infrastructure.

According to the police chief, registration of 18.63 acres of the 29.21 acres of land allocated for police facilities has already been completed.

He added that there are future plans to bring the entire Purbachal New City Project under the jurisdiction of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police by creating a separate police division headed by an Additional Police Commissioner. The proposed expansion would also create approximately 6,524 new positions within the force.

Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, senior police officials and local residents were present at the inauguration ceremony.
