Habiganj, Jun 27 (V7N) – The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has said it thwarted an alleged attempt by India's Border Security Force (BSF) to push several Indian nationals into Bangladesh through the Teliapara border in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj.
According to the BGB, the incident took place on Friday night when the BSF allegedly attempted to force 8 to 10 Indian nationals across the international border into Bangladesh.
The border force claimed the attempt was made under the cover of darkness after security lights along the border were switched off.
However, the BGB said its patrol members, with assistance from local residents, detected the movement and took immediate action, preventing the alleged push-in attempt.
Faced with the BGB's strict position and heightened vigilance, the BSF was reportedly compelled to take the individuals back, the border force said.
Following the incident, the BGB reiterated that it has maintained strict surveillance and intensified patrol operations along the border to prevent any form of illegal infiltration into Bangladesh.
The border force added that it remains on high alert and is committed to safeguarding the country's frontiers against unauthorized cross-border movement and other illegal activities.
