PM Tarique Rahman Arrives in Dalian After Malaysia Visit, to Join Summer Davos Forum
DALIAN, China, June 22, 2026 (BSS) — Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived here tonight from Kuala Lumpur, concluding his two-day official visit to Malaysia.
Aspecial Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the Prime Minister and his spouse Dr Zubaida Rahman touched down at Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport at 11:05 pm local time, said PM’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.
Liaoning Province Vice Governor Bai Ying, Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka Yao Wen, and Bangladesh Ambassador to China Md. Nazmul Islam received the premier and his spouse at the airport.
From the airport, the Prime Minister was escorted in a ceremonial motorcade to Hotel Shangri-La, where he will stay for two days.
He has a packed schedule in Dalian before heading to Beijing, where the main events of his official China visit will take place.
Tarique Rahman will take part in the 17th Annual Meeting of the New Champions (Summer Davos Forum 2026) organized by the World Economic Forum in Dalian.
According to the itinerary, the President and CEO of the World Economic Forum will call on the Prime Minister at Shangri-La tomorrow morning.
In the afternoon, he will speak at a session titled "Climate Leadership in a Shifting Global Landscape" at the Dalian International Conference Center. He is also set to attend several other events.
In the evening, the Prime Minister will join a banquet hosted by Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
On June 24, he is scheduled to meet the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan in the morning. After further engagements, he will travel to Beijing by high-speed train in the afternoon.
Officials said the visit comes at a significant time as China and Bangladesh enter the next phase of diplomatic ties — the “Golden 50 Years.” The trip is seen as historically important for maintaining past achievements and shaping future bilateral relations.
Tarique Rahman is set to return home on June 26, ending his first official overseas tour since taking office on February 17.
Earlier today, the Prime Minister held a one-on-one meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. The two sides also held high-level delegation talks and signed one MoU and two other instruments.
