Dhaka, May 20 (V7N) — The main accused in the murder of seven-year-old Ramisa Akhter in Pallabi, Mirpur, has reportedly given a confessional statement before authorities, admitting responsibility for the crime.

Police said the accused, Sohel Rana, was later sent to jail following his statement.

According to Pallabi Police Station, both the prime suspect Sohel Rana and his alleged accomplice Swapna Akhter were arrested on Wednesday (May 20), within approximately seven hours of the incident.

Law enforcement officials said Swapna Akhter was first detained during an intelligence-led operation using information technology support. Based on her interrogation, police later arrested Sohel Rana from the Fatulla area of Narayanganj.

Police sources said the victim, Ramisa Akhter, a second-grade student, was found murdered with her throat slit in Pallabi on Tuesday (May 19) around 9 am.

Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances and possible involvement of others in the case.
