DHAKA, May 18 (V7N )— Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General Md. Ahsan Habib Palash said today that the force is working to establish itself as a symbol of public hope, trust, and professionalism through lawful and people-oriented operations nationwide.
“We hope that the elite force would continue strengthening professionalism, accountability and operational efficiency while ensuring proper application of the law in all activities,” he said at a programme marking RAB’s 22nd founding anniversary at its headquarters in the capital.
The anniversary event was held on Sunday, with Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed attending as chief guest, according to a RAB press release.
Also present were Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, Prime Minister’s Adviser to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Cultural Affairs; the chiefs of the Bangladesh Army and Navy; the Assistant Chief of Air Force; the Inspector General of Police; senior military and civil officials; foreign guests; and RAB officials.
In his welcome speech, the RAB chief said the force has played a key role in maintaining law and order since its formation in 2004 by conducting operations against illegal arms, narcotics, organized crime, extortion, kidnapping, human trafficking, robbery, and juvenile gangs.
He said RAB remains committed to earning public confidence by carrying out its duties with professionalism and dedication to public safety and national.
