DHAKA, May 11, (V7N) – Finance Secretary Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Mozumder has emphasized that building a sustainable social security framework is essential for establishing a welfare-oriented state.

Speaking at a workshop titled “Capacity and Prospects of the National Pension Authority” at the NPA office, he said: “If citizens aged above 18 years can be brought under the Universal Pension Schemes – Probash, Progoti, Surakkha and Samata – an organized social and financial security system can be established.”

He urged the National Pension Authority (NPA) to intensify publicity campaigns, arrange seminars and workshops, and engage diverse social groups to expand participation. He also highlighted the need for an effective communication strategy and assured full cooperation from the Finance Division.
Workshop Highlights

Identification of challenges in implementing the Universal Pension Scheme.

Discussion of scheme features, investment and registration processes, and a two-month action plan.

Calls for amendments to regulations to make schemes more people-friendly.

Emphasis on including low-income groups and involving government offices and Bangladesh missions abroad in promotional activities.

The workshop was chaired by NPA Executive Chairman Dr. Md. Suratuzzaman.
