Dhaka, May 05 (V7N) — The Election Commission of Bangladesh has officially gazetted Nusrat Tabassum as elected to a reserved women’s seat in the 13th National Parliament.

The announcement was made on Monday through a notification signed by Returning Officer and Joint Secretary Md. Moin Uddin Khan.

According to the notification, the decision follows a directive from the High Court Division in Writ Petition No. 5022/2026 dated April 27. In compliance with the court order, Nusrat Tabassum’s nomination papers were accepted on May 2, and after due scrutiny and completion of the নির্বাচন process, her candidacy was declared valid.

Earlier, on May 3, NCP Joint Convener Monira Sharmin had formally requested the Election Commission to withhold publication of the gazette until the disposal of a pending writ petition in the High Court. In her appeal, she stated that she had challenged the Returning Officer’s decisions dated April 23 and 27.

Despite the objection, the Election Commission proceeded with the gazette notification, confirming Nusrat Tabassum’s position as a Member of Parliament in a reserved seat.
