Dhaka, May 4 (V7N) — Md. Nazrul Islam has been promoted from Additional Director to Director at Bangladesh Bank, according to an official order issued on Sunday by the central bank’s Human Resources Department-1.

Prior to his promotion, he was serving in the SME and Special Programs Department. Until further notice, he will continue to carry out his responsibility in the same role, now as Director.

Nazrul Islam has been serving as Program Director of the entrepreneurship development initiative under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program since October 2021. The program operates under the Finance Ministry’s Skills Development Coordination and Monitoring Unit and plays a significant role in fostering entrepreneurship and enhancing workforce skills in Bangladesh.

During his career at Bangladesh Bank, he has held key responsibilities in several Important divisions, including the Credit Guarantee Department, Financial Institutions Inspection Department, and Banking Regulations and Policy Department.

He completed both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Dhaka. He later obtained a professional master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand. In addition, he earned a certification in Risk Management (CERM) from Germany.

Nazrul Islam hails from Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah district.
