Sylhet, May 2 (V7N)- Prime Minister and Leader of the House Tarique Rahman is set to visit Sylhet today (Saturday) for the first time since assuming office, with a series of official engagements scheduled throughout the day.

According to the tour itinerary, the Prime Minister will depart Dhaka by air and is expected to arrive in Sylhet around 10:00 am. Upon arrival, he will pay homage at the shrine of Sufi saint Hazrat Shahjalal (RA), a significant spiritual landmark in the region.

Following this, at approximately 11:00 am, the Prime Minister will attend a rally after laying the foundation stone of a Sylhet City Corporation project aimed at resolving waterlogging in the Chandnighat area along the banks of the Surma River, adjacent to the Sylhet Circuit House. At around 11:35 am, he is scheduled to inaugurate the Bangladesh Overseas Center Sylhet.

Later in the day, at 12:00 pm, Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the Basia Canal excavation program in Kandigaon Union under Sylhet Sadar Upazila, a project expected to improve local water management and reduce flood risks.

In the afternoon, at 3:00 pm, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the ‘New Bud Sports’ initiative at Sylhet District Stadium. The program, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, aims to identify and nurture sporting talent among children and adolescents.

The Prime Minister is also expected to attend a party meeting at 5:00 pm before returning to Dhaka later in the day.
