Dhaka, April 27 (V7N) — Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman today inaugurated a mobile legal aid camp at Korail slum in the capital, marking National Legal Aid Day 2026 under the theme “Resolving disputes at government expense, Bangladesh first.”
Organized by the Law and Justice Division and the National Legal Aid Services Organisation, with technical support from GIZ Bangladesh, the inaugural programme was held at Ershad Math in Korail.
Speaking as chief guest, the minister said the government aims to ensure legal assistance reaches every citizen at their doorstep. “Those who cannot afford to hire a lawyer can receive assistance by calling 16699,” he said, urging media to raise awareness about the services.
The minister also provided on-the-spot legal advice to two women during the event.
German Ambassador Dr. Ruediger Lotz welcomed the initiative, stressing the importance of community-based legal assistance. Director General of the National Legal Aid Services Organisation Md Manjurul Hossain, Joint Secretary MA Auwal, and GIZ Bangladesh representative Martina Burkard also spoke.
