DHAKA, April 17 (V7N) – Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman, who passed away at 6:25am while undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in Dhaka. He was 58.
In a condolence message, the minister paid rich tribute to Rahman, describing him as a skilled, honest, and dedicated official whose professionalism and integrity made significant contributions to the Ministry of Commerce. “The nation has lost an experienced administrator in his untimely death, which created a vacuum difficult to fill,” Muktadir said.
Rahman was admitted to Square Hospital on April 13 after a sudden drop in blood platelets and was later diagnosed with malaria. A distinguished civil servant from the 13th BCS (Customs and Excise) cadre, he served in various important government positions before joining the Ministry of Commerce as Secretary on February 25, 2025.
He leaves behind his wife, three daughters, and a host of relatives and well-wishers. The minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
