Dhaka, Apr 09 (V7N) – Parliament has repealed three ordinances issued by the interim government concerning the Supreme Court Secretariat and the appointment of Supreme Court judges.
The Abolition of Appointment of Supreme Court Judges Bill, 2026 and the Abolition of Supreme Court Secretariat Bill, 2026 formally repealed the Supreme Court Secretariat Ordinance and its amendment, leaving no separate law for appointing Supreme Court judges or for establishing an independent Supreme Court Secretariat.
As a result, the appointment of judges and administrative activities of the judiciary have reverted to the previous structure.
Opposition members in Parliament opposed the repeal, arguing that it could undermine the independence of the judiciary.
