DHAKA, March 20 (V7N) — Prime Minister Tarique Rahman celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with his family members at his Gulshan residence in the capital today, marking his first Eid in Bangladesh after more than 17 years abroad.
According to Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman, the premier spent the day with close relatives, including aunts and uncles, sharing lunch and family moments.
Earlier in the morning, Tarique Rahman offered Eid prayers at the National Eidgah and exchanged greetings with people from all walks of life, including foreign diplomats and dignitaries, at the State Guest House Jamuna.
He later visited Sher-e-Bangla Nagar with his family to offer ziarat at the graves of his father, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, and mother, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. His wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman, daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman, and Arafat Rahman Koko’s wife Syeda Sharmila Rahman with daughters Zahia and Zafia Rahman joined him in paying respects.
After returning to Gulshan, the Prime Minister exchanged Eid greetings with officials and staff at his residence.
Tarique Rahman returned to Bangladesh with his family on December 25 last year and assumed office as Prime Minister following his election victory on February 12, 2026.
