March 18 (V7N) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain on Wednesday said distribution of health cards and agriculture cards will begin under a pilot project by the end of June.

The initiative will be implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, he added.

The minister made the remarks while addressing a humanitarian assistance distribution programme from the Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund at Belabo Upazila Parishad hall room, marking the upcoming Eid al-Fitr.

He said the government has already waived farm loans up to Tk 10,000, including interest, to support farmers. He also noted that the distribution of honorariums for imams, muezzins and priests at the union level has already begun.

Highlighting efforts to build a drug- and corruption-free society, the minister said the Belabo-Monohardi constituency would be made free from drugs and corruption, with similar initiatives to be expanded nationwide in phases.

Belabo upazila BNP convener Ahsan Habib Biplob and officials from various government agencies were present at the programme.

The event was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Umme Hafsa Nadia.
