Lakshmipur, Mar 11 (V7N) – Water Resources Minister Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie has praised Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, calling him a “people’s Prime Minister” and a patriotic leader who is different from previous heads of government.

Speaking as the chief guest at a view-sharing meeting organized by the Sanatani community in Lakshmipur on Tuesday, Minister Annie said, “Tarique Rahman comes to the office at 9 am and performs his duties diligently. Although he has been in office for less than a month, the conscience of the people already believes that he can lead the country. He is not the Prime Minister of BNP or any group, he is the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.”

The minister highlighted the recently launched family card pilot program, saying it is aimed at the people, not any political group, and will be issued in the name of the household’s housewife. He said, “This program is part of fulfilling election promises, and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman officially inaugurated it today.”

Addressing the Hindu community, Minister Annie emphasized inclusivity: “There is no room for anyone to feel small. BNP’s politics respects all religions. Bangladesh’s politics is based on nationalism that includes everyone. Those who speak of justice and fairness have not always practiced it.”

He also recalled the leadership of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia, saying, “In the future, we aim to build the country on justice and fairness under the leadership of Tarique Rahman.”

The meeting was chaired by Shankar Majumdar, President of the Lakshmipur Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council, and moderated by Shimul Saha, General Secretary of the Central Youth Unity Council. Other attendees included BFF Vice President Wahid Uddin Chowdhury Happy, District BNP Member Secretary Sahab Uddin Sabu, and Joint Convener Advocate Habibur Rahman.

Earlier, Minister Annie attended an Iftar gathering organized by the Municipal Youth League at the Lakshmipur Public Library and Town Hall.
