RAJSHAHI, Feb 21 (V7N) – Land Minister-elect Mizanur Rahman Minu has issued a stern warning that transforming Rajshahi into a city of peace is the government’s top priority, declaring that those involved in extortion and land grabbing will not be spared under any circumstances.

He made the remarks while responding to journalists after a view-exchange meeting with the divisional and district administration at the Rajshahi Circuit House on Friday morning.

The minister said strict legal action will be taken against anyone found engaged in extortion, land grabbing or related crimes, adding that this directive has come directly from the Prime Minister. He emphasized that the administration is already active in monitoring such activities and taking action where necessary.

“There is no extortion or land grabbing in Rajshahi. The administration is already taking action against anyone involved in these things. Exemplary punishment will be ensured by bringing them under the law,” he said.

Speaking on corruption, he asserted that there is no scope for irregularities, stating that the government is committed to building a corruption-free administration guided by honesty, integrity and hard work. He added that the administration follows the ideals of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and that there will be no compromise on principles and transparency.

Mizanur Rahman Minu also described receiving the responsibility of the ministry from the Rajshahi Sadar constituency as a matter of pride for the people of the region, saying it reflects the trust and support of the জনগণ. He noted that after nearly two decades, a new opportunity has emerged to adopt fresh development plans for Rajshahi and accelerate its progress.

Among others present at the meeting were Rajshahi-3 MP Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, former Rajshahi City Corporation mayor Mohammad Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul, Divisional Commissioner Dr ANM Bazlur Rashid, Rajshahi Range DIG Dr Mohammad Shahjahan and Deputy Commissioner Afia Akhtar.
