Dhaka, Feb 20 (V7N) – The premises of the Central Shaheed Minar have been beautifully decorated to mark Ekushey February and International Mother Language Day, as preparations near completion to pay tribute to the language martyrs.

More than four hundred teachers and students from the University of Dhaka Fine Arts Department are working tirelessly to ready the monument. Engaged in last-minute preparations with paints and brushes, they are creating a vibrant and solemn atmosphere across the Shaheed Minar premises—from cleaning the main altar to painting traditional alpana designs.

In addition to the main structure, surrounding walls are being adorned with Bengali alphabets and graffiti that reflect the historic significance of the Language Movement.

To ensure security during the observance, strict three-tier safety measures have been implemented in and around the area. CCTV cameras have also been installed across the Shaheed Minar premises.

Starting from Friday night, people from all walks of life are expected to gather at the Central Shaheed Minar with flowers to pay their heartfelt respects to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the mother tongue. Their ultimate sacrifice will once again be remembered with deep reverence and love.
