Dhaka, Feb 19 (V7N) — Prime Minister Tarique Rahman began his second day in office with a series of high-level meetings, signaling an active start to his administration’s policy and security agenda.

Meetings with Security Leadership

In the morning, the Prime Minister held a meeting with the chiefs of the three armed services:

  • Waqar-uz-Zaman, Chief of Army Staff

  • Hassan Mahmud Khan, Chief of Air Staff

  • Mohammad Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Naval Staff

He also met separately with the Directors General of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) and Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), focusing on security and intelligence coordination.

Policy Planning Sessions

At 11:30 am, the Prime Minister joined an inter-ministerial meeting to finalize the action plan for launching the government’s “Family Card” initiative, aimed at streamlining welfare support.

Later in the day, he is scheduled to chair another inter-ministerial session where discussions will focus on:

  • A nationwide program to plant 250 million trees over five years

  • A national initiative to excavate and re-excavate rivers, canals, and reservoirs to improve water management

Officials say these meetings reflect the government’s early emphasis on security coordination, social protection, and environmental sustainability as key priorities for the new administration.
