Dhaka, Feb 12, (V7N) – Home Adviser Lt Gen Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd) said Thursday that Bangladesh’s 13th parliamentary election was being conducted in a fair and festive atmosphere, with only minor isolated incidents reported.

Speaking to journalists after casting his ballot at Baridhara Scholars International School and College polling centre at 10 a.m., he expressed determination that the polls would remain free, fair, peaceful, and acceptable. He underscored the role of journalists in ensuring credibility, noting that factual reporting helps counter misinformation and propaganda from neighboring countries. “If journalists publish factual news during the national election, rumours and propaganda can be prevented,” he said, urging the media to maintain accuracy and objectivity throughout the day.

Later, the adviser visited the central law and order coordination cell of the Home Ministry and the Police Headquarters operation control room to oversee security arrangements.
