Dhaka, Feb 10 (V7N) — Finance Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed on Tuesday said that even if money laundered during the Awami League era can be identified, returning it is a complex process, as the funds were laundered by skilled operators.

He made the remarks at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon (February 10).

Salehuddin Ahmed said the exact amount of laundered money cannot be specified, but stressed that a proactive approach by the next government could potentially recover the funds. He also recommended that the incoming government continue the initiatives started by the interim government, emphasizing the importance of coordination among government agencies.

The Finance Advisor added that he has submitted his personal assets to the Cabinet Division and expressed hope that he will not face any legal challenges during the tenure of the next government. He also mentioned that the Cabinet Division may publish the asset details of the advisors within a day or two.

Salehuddin Ahmed highlighted the achievements of the interim government over the past 18 months, saying that Bangladesh has been brought to a position to move forward at a faster pace. He further stated that, if the future elected government wishes, it could publish a white paper on the irregularities and corruption of the current advisory council.
