Dhaka, Jan 26 (V7N) — The government has declared a two-day nationwide public holiday on February 11 and 12 to facilitate voting in the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum.

In addition, a special holiday has been announced for workers and employees in industrial areas on February 10, ahead of the election.

The decision was confirmed in a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Sunday.

According to the notification, the holidays were declared following a decision taken at a meeting of the Advisory Council. As per the order, all government, semi-government, autonomous and private offices, institutions, and organizations across the country will remain closed on Wednesday and Thursday, February 11 and 12.

The holiday will also apply to teachers, officers, and employees of both government and private educational institutions, aiming to ensure the smooth exercise of voting rights and encourage voter participation.

At the same time, the government has declared Tuesday, February 10, as a special holiday for industrial workers and employees, allowing them sufficient time to take part in the electoral process.

The move comes as part of administrative measures to ensure a free, fair, and inclusive voting environment during the national election.
